The basics
So what is selenite, really?
Selenite is a form of gypsum, the same mineral used in drywall and plaster. Its name comes from Selene, the Greek moon goddess, for that soft glow.
Honest bit: most wands, towers and lamps sold as selenite are satin spar, a fibrous gypsum with silky stripes. True selenite is clear and glassy.
