The basics
So... what is a crystal sphere?
It's rough stone, cut and polished into a ball. People shape them, nature doesn't. A machine grinds most of them round.
Ours come mostly from Brazil, plus China, Mexico, Madagascar and India.
Light rolls through a clear sphere, so you can peer inside like a window.
Choosing
How to pick yours
-
Pick a size
Under 2 inches fits your palm, from $32. Three inches and up is a shelf centrepiece.
-
Clear or colourful?
Clear quartz shows off rainbows inside. Rose quartz, fluorite and labradorite bring the colour.
-
Look for the window
Turn it in the light. The swirl or flash you can't stop looking at? That's yours.
Using it
Display and care
-
Give it a stand
Spheres roll. A stand, ring or small dish keeps it put and chip-free.
-
Find the light
Clear quartz glows in a window. Keep rose quartz and amethyst out of strong sun, as their colour can fade.
-
Dust it gently
A soft dry cloth is all it needs.

Good questions
Questions people ask us
Is it real stone?
Yes. The stone is natural. The round shape is the human part.
Why are there cracks and rainbows inside?
Natural fractures and inclusions. Light bounces off tiny cracks and makes rainbows. Most collectors love them.
Can I put it in a sunny window?
Clear quartz, yes. But a sphere can focus sunlight like a lens, so keep it away from anything that could scorch.
What does a sphere do?
It looks beautiful and feels great to hold. Lots of folks keep a small one on the desk for a calm moment.
