Each slice is a cross-section of a rock that filled itself in, one thin layer at a time.

Agate forms in gaps inside volcanic rock, where silica-rich water slowly leaves behind band after band. Cut thin and polished, those bands become a glowing pattern you can see straight through. All colours except Natural are dyed to make them pop; Natural is the agate's own undyed colour.

This size is just right for little hands and small spaces. Old Persian stories said agate could even change the weather, which is a fun one to tell kids. They're also a favourite for crystal grids and craft projects.

How to use it

  • Line a few up on a windowsill
  • Use them in a crystal grid
  • Make a mini suncatcher display
  • Tell the weather legend to a curious kid

Care: Rinse with plain water and dry right away, and keep dyed slices out of strong sun for hours so the colour stays bright.
