The basics
So what is sodalite, really?
Sodalite is a blue mineral named for the sodium inside it. It was first described in 1811 from Greenland.
The white streaks are other minerals, often calcite, running through the blue. Every piece has its own pattern.
Our sodalite comes from Brazil, one of the biggest sources. Namibia and the Bancroft area of Ontario are known for it too.
