The basics
So what is labradorite, really?
Labradorite is a feldspar, one of the most common mineral groups on Earth. It was first described in 1770 near Nain, on the coast of Labrador.
The flash is called labradorescence. Thin layers inside the stone bounce light around, and certain colours win. Tilt it slowly and watch the colour slide across.
