Cassiterite In Quartz Tumbled Stones

Cassiterite is a black mineral composed of tin oxide (SnO2); although very rare yellow-ish translucent gemstone quality of cassiterite also occurs. Another name for Cassiterite is Tinstone, as it is an important tin ore.

These specimens contain cassiterite in a matrix of quartz, some may also contain orange stains that may be iron ore or hematite inclusions.
