Amethyst Point Titanium Plated - Cut-Base #3
Natural amethyst with layers of titanium creates a spectrum of rainbow colours done by a process known as magnetron ionization. Like any other kind of precious mineral, the molecules bond to the crystal in a high-heat vacuum chamber, which results in a rainbow colouring that cannot be scraped or scratched off. However, titanium molecules could be bonded to the quartz by electrostatic charge, meaning only electricity is used to deposit the titanium layers and create rainbow colours. Very little heat is involved, and the integrity of the crystal is maintained. The crystal does not become brittle or prone to breakage as with heat treatments.
