Sodalite has natural colours ranging from light to dark hues of rich royal blue and veined with white streaks or patterns, with some stones showing a slight orange fluorescence. A result of the many years of growth in the mineral deposits found in Brazil.

Sodalite gained popularity in the 1800s during Princess Margaret of England’s visit to Bancroft. The princess adored the mineral and used it as interior decoration; it is frequently referred to as Princess Blue.
